URCS premises in Kherson damaged in shelling
KYIV. Jan 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In a shelling of the city of Kherson by Russian invaders, the premises of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) have been damaged.
"Today [on January 15], during the shelling of the city, the premises of the Kherson regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, where volunteers usually provided humanitarian assistance to people, have been damaged. A fire broke out due to the shelling. Rescuers are working on the site. Information about the victims and the extent of the destruction is being specified," the URCS said on its website page on Facebook.
The URCS said that civilians, humanitarian organizations and hospitals must not be a target.
"Attacks on employees and institutions of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement are a gross violation of international humanitarian law and are classified as a war crime!" the URCS said.
