Ukrainian agrarians harvest almost 51 mln tonnes of grain from 6% of areas – Agrarian Ministry
KYIV. Jan 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian farmers by January 13, 2023 harvested 76.43 million tonnes of main agricultural crops (up 1.4 million tonnes per week) from a total area of 18.16 million hectares (up 200,000 hectares), of which 50.96 million tonnes were cereals and leguminous crops.
According to the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, during the week the total area of farmland from which the harvest was collected increased by 1 percentage point (p.p.) – up to 94% of the previously planned area.
In terms of crops, the harvesting of wheat, barley, peas, rapeseed, soybeans and sugar beets has been completed. Over the week, the area of harvested corn increased by 4 p.p. – up to 85% of the planned indicators, while the areas of harvested buckwheat (98%), as well as millet and sunflower (99% each) did not change. In addition, the last 1% of soybeans was threshed last week.
According to the ministry, the final harvest of wheat this season amounted to 20.2 million tonnes from 5 million hectares, barley – 5.8 million tonnes from 1.7 million hectares, soybeans – 3.7 million tonnes from 1.5 million hectares, rapeseed – 3.2 million tonnes from 1.1 million hectares, peas – 269,000 tonnes from 118,000 hectares, sugar beet – 9 million tonnes from 180,000 hectares.
In addition, by January 13, a total of 23.5 million tonnes of corn (up 1.4 million tonnes per week) were harvested from 3.6 million hectares (up 200,000 hectares), 10.5 million tonnes of sunflower from 4.8 million ha, 158,000 tonnes of buckwheat from 116,000 ha, and 102,000 tonnes of millet from 45,000 ha.
