Ukraine receives $17.4 bln, or 52% of aid declared by partners – Finance Ministry

KYIV. Sept 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The amount of funding actually allocated to Ukraine by international partners since the beginning of the war to cover the state budget deficit as of September 13 amounted to $17.422 billion, or 52% of the aid declared by them for a total of $33.325 billion, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reports.

According to the data published on its website, the share of grants accounted for a little less than half of the funds received – $ 8.524 billion, or 48.9%.

As the Ministry of Finance pointed out, the United States and the European Union announced the greatest support to Ukraine – $12.99 billion and $11.6 billion, respectively, however, if the United States has already allocated $6.99 billion, or 54% of this amount, and all in the form of grants, then the EU – $2.426 billion, or 21%, of which only $144 million is in the form of grants.

According to the table, they are followed by Canada, the IMF and Germany – $1.521 billion, $1.41 billion and $1.373 billion, respectively, of which only Germany provided a grant – $1.373 billion. All these declared funds have already been allocated, although the IMF has recently announced approval in October for another $1.4 billion in RFI emergency funding.

The UK is next, it announced support for the budget of Ukraine for $1.102 billion, of which so far it has provided $577 million, including $128 million in grants.

Since the beginning of the war, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank and Japan have been donors to the Ukrainian budget in the amount of $500 million to $1 billion – $929 million, $720 million and $581 million, respectively – all these funds have already been received and all in the form of loans.

France, Italy and the Netherlands have announced about the same financial support for the Ukrainian budget. However, if France and Italy have already provided all the announced $332 million and $330 million, respectively (including Italy – $125 million as a grant), the Netherlands has so far allocated a third – $106 million (of which $21 million is in the form of a grant), and another $204 million is expected.

The ministry also indicated that since the beginning of the war, the financing of the budget deficit for UAH 315 billion, or $10.152 billion in equivalent, has been covered by the National Bank of Ukraine through the direct purchase of war bonds.
