Ukraine hopes for Donor Coordination Platform to raise $10.8 bln for rapid recovery of 2023 – Finance Ministry

KYIV. April 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine needs $14.1 billion for rapid recovery in 2023, according to the recent international assessment of RDNA2, of which $3.3 billion has been allocated from the state budget, while in search of the missing funds, Kyiv is counting on assistance from the Donor Coordination Platform, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said at the second meeting of its steering committee on Wednesday.

“The Government of Ukraine expects that the functioning of the Platform should ensure close coordination between international donors and international financial institutions, as well as coordinated, transparent and accountable support for the reconstruction of the country,” he was quoted in a press release from the Ministry of Finance.

Marchenko noted that in order to finance the remaining almost $10.8 billion, the government of Ukraine is aimed at constructive and fruitful cooperation with donors and the private sector.

The minister recalled that according to the RDNA2 report of the government of Ukraine, the World Bank, the European Commission and the UN, rapid recovery is focused on five main areas: the restoration of energy, damaged housing and critical and social infrastructure, as well as humanitarian demining and support for small and medium-sized businesses.

The co-chairs of the platform welcomed the commitment of the Ukrainian government to ensure fiscal stability and to provide comprehensive, whole-of-government prioritization of the strategic needs of rapid recovery until 2023. And they assured of their support for Ukraine on the path of renewal and integration into the European Union.

As reported, the Inter-Agency Donor Coordination Platform (“financial Ramstein”) began its work on January 26 this year, when the first meeting of the steering committee was held.
