Ukraine doesn’t call for preventive use of nuclear weapons – President’s press secretary

KYIV. Oct 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine does not call for the preventive use of nuclear weapons, said press secretary of the President of Ukraine Serhiy Nykyforov.

"The President spoke about the period until February 24. Then it was necessary to apply preventive measures to prevent Russia from starting a war. Let me remind you that the only measures that were mentioned at that time were preventive sanctions," Nykyforov wrote on Facebook.

As the press secretary of the President stressed, only the terrorist state Russia allows itself to blackmail the world with explosions at nuclear power plants and in every possible way hint at the use of nuclear weapons.

"You will never hear such calls from Ukraine," he said.

As reported, speaking at the Australian analytical center on October 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that NATO should make it impossible for Russia to use nuclear weapons.

"Preventive strikes are needed so that they [the Russian Federation] know what awaits them if they use nuclear weapons," the president said.
