Ukraine among 20 most influential countries in world according to ‘soft power’ rating
KYIV. March 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Over the past year, Ukraine added the most points among all countries of the Global Soft Power Index, ranking 37th out of 121 in total and 19th in terms of influence.
The international study of the perception of national brands conducted by Brand Finance covers 100,000 respondents. For comparison, in 2021 Ukraine occupied 61st position.
The index shows the ability to influence others through attractiveness and persuasion, rather than coercion and force. Among the studied indicators were, in particular, the influence, recognition and reputation of countries.
Last year, Ukraine ranked 45th in the ranking of influence. In terms of recognition, Ukraine has risen from 47th to 14th place. The reputation of Ukraine has shown a moderate improvement, the growth of the indicator is restrained by respondents from Asia, who believe that the reputation of Ukraine has somewhat decreased.
The results were presented at the Global Soft Power Summit 2023 in London on March 2, which this year focused on Ukraine.
“Ukraine has significantly improved its ranking in Brand Finance Global Soft Power Index 2023: 37th of 121 nations, TOP-20 by global influence. This is the achievement of the brave Ukrainian people, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, our Armed Forces, and everyone who told Ukraine’s story,” Kuleba said on Twitter.
