Stoltenberg: Ukraine can expect new deliveries of heavy weapons from Western countries – media
KYIV. Jan 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine can count on new deliveries of Western weapons, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, the AFP agency reports.
"Ukraine can expect more deliveries of heavy weapons from Western countries soon, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Sunday. Kyiv has long pushed for heavier weaponry but Western nations have been fearful of becoming drawn into the war or provoking Russia," AFP said on Twitter.
"The recent pledges for heavy warfare equipment are important – and I expect more in the near future," the agency quoted Stoltenberg.
Next week, the Ramstein Air Base in Germany will host a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, which coordinates arms supplies to Ukraine.
