Spotter of fire on Mykoaliv schools receives eight years of imprisonment
KYIV. April 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A spotter of Russian missile strikes on schools in Mykolaiv will spend eight years in prison, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reports.
“The SBU has collected irrefutable evidence of the guilt of another informant of the main directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (better known as the GRU). The malefactor corrected enemy attacks of objects of civil infrastructure in the territory of Mykolaiv region,” SBU said on the Telegram channel on Saturday.
“It was on his ‘tip-off’ that the Russian occupiers launched a missile attack on two local schools. As a result of an enemy air attack, both buildings were completely destroyed,” the SBU informs.
SBU officers detained the lawbreaker in August last year during counter-sabotage events in the frontline areas of the region. According to the materials of the SBU, the court ruled that he is to spend eight years in prison.
According to the investigation, the spotter turned out to be the former head of the security service of one of the infrastructure facilities of the regional center. After the start of a full-scale invasion, Russian military intelligence remotely attracted him to tacit cooperation. “He came to the attention of the GRU because of his activity in pro-Kremlin Telegram channels, where he repeatedly published his comments in support of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation,” the SBU reports the details of the investigation.
During the search at the place of residence of the detainee, a mobile phone was found, which he used to communicate with the Russian coordinator.
Based on the evidence collected by the SBU officers, the court found the criminal guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 3 of Article 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information about the direction, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, relocation or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine); Part 2, 3 of Article 436-2 (justification, recognition of lawful, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The investigation was conducted by SBU officers in Mykolaiv region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
