Rada intends to call on U.S. Congress to recognize Russia as state sponsor of terrorism

KYIV. May 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A group of MPs led by Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk registered a draft resolution on an appeal to the House of Representatives and the Senate of the U.S. Congress to recognize the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism, the speaker said.

"We have registered draft resolution No. 7341, which proposes to approve the appeal of the Verkhovna Rada to the House of Representatives and the Senate of the U.S. Congress on recognizing the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism… Recognizing Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism will strengthen international sanctions against it and consolidate the world around Ukraine. The Verkhovna Rada, in particular, calls on the U.S. Congress to impose sanctions against government and business circles, political parties in Russia that support the war," Stefanchuk wrote on his Facebook page.

According to him, there is more than enough evidence of Russia’s compliance with the status of a state sponsor of terrorism.

"These are atrocities in Irpin, Bucha, Mariupol and other cities of Ukraine. This is the use of prohibited weapons by Russia, in particular, chemical ones. This is a hostage-taking of civilians. This is permanent nuclear terror. This is support for the terrorist organizations of the LPR and DPR. It’s the poisoning of the Skrypal family, the downing of the Malaysian airliner. And this is far from a complete list," the speaker said.

He said that it is impossible to delay and that "Russia’s place is in the isolation room: we must separate the terrorists from the civilized world by all possible means."
