Profit of Ukrainian banks grows 2.1 times in Jan – NBU

KYIV. Feb 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The profit of Ukrainian banks in January 2023 amounted to UAH 14.694 billion, which is 2.1 times more than in the same month of 2022 (UAH 7.145 billion), the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) reported on Wednesday.

The regulator said that the income of banks in January increased by 55%, to UAH 38.65 billion, and expenses by 35%, to UAH 23.956 billion.

And commission income grew by 4.6% to UAH 8.3 billion.

At the same time, the result from the revaluation and from purchase and sale operations was positive and reached UAH 5.9 billion, while for the same period last year it was negative and totaled UAH 42 million.

At the same time, allocations to reserves grew by 58%, to UAH 2.488 billion, and commission expenses by 31%, to UAH 3.985 billion.

As reported, Ukrainian banks in 2022 reduced their net profit by 67.8%, to UAH 24.716 billion compared to UAH 77.376 billion in 2021.
