Over 8 mln tonnes of Ukrainian food exported as part of Black Sea Grain Initiative

New York (UN). Oct 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian ports on Thursday left three dry cargo ships with food, having received permission from the Joint Coordination Center.

"As of October 20, the total tonnage of grain and other agricultural products exported from three Ukrainian ports is 8,088 tonnes. In total, 738 ships have been allowed to move at the moment some 375 for arrival in Ukrainian ports and 363 for leaving them," the center said in a statement.

It is noted that on Thursday the ports of Ukraine left three ships with 141,500 tonnes of grain and other agricultural products.

The Aris T dry cargo ship will deliver 52,733 tonnes of corn and 23,267 tonnes of sunflower meal to Spain. The Xin Shun ship will transport 60,000 tonnes of rapeseed to the EU countries. Dry cargo ship Atlantis Almeria is heading to Turkey with 5,500 tonnes of sunflower oil.

"Grain that has arrived at its destination can be processed and then transported to other countries," the center said.

On July 22, in Istanbul, with the participation of the UN, Ukraine, Turkey and Russia, a document was signed on the creation of a corridor for the export of grain from three Ukrainian ports – Chornomorsk, Odesa and Pivdenny.
