Over 380 military clashes take place in Bakhmut direction since Feb beginning, intense fighting lasts for seven months – AFU General Staff
KYIV. Feb 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The most intense fighting has been lasting in Bakhmut direction for seven months already, more than 380 military clashes with the Russian occupation forces took place there since the beginning of February 2023, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Oleksiy Hromov has said.
“The most difficult situation is still in Bakhmut direction where the aggressor does not abandon attempts to surround the settlement of Bakhmut, regardless of the huge losses it has been facing. I want to emphasize that the fighting in the vicinity of Bakhmut started back in July last year and it still continues,” he told a press briefing at the Military Media Center on Thursday.
Hromov also said that the Kremlin wanted to seize control over the town by the end of August. For this purpose, the enemy sent its most prepared regular troops and Wagner Private Military Company fighters there. The largest number of enemy artillery units is concentrated exactly in this direction.
