Military leadership of NATO countries to discuss war in Ukraine on Jan 18-19
KYIV. Jan 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – NATO’s supreme military body, the Military Committee, will meet on January 18-19 in person in Brussels, Belgium, the press service of the Alliance reports.
It is noted that the meeting will be attended by 32 Chiefs of Defense, who will discuss issues of NATO’s strategic importance.
"The NATO Secretary General, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg will join the Military Committee for the first session to provide the latest political objectives and to discuss security challenges facing the Alliance," the report notes.
Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, General Lavigne, will lead the second session of the day. It will focus on early observations from the ongoing war in Ukraine, and the acceleration of the implementation of the NATO Warfighting Capstone Concept and the Warfare Development Agenda.
"The final session will see the Military Committee discuss NATO’s ongoing support to Ukraine," the report notes.
A meeting of NATO Chiefs of Defense with Kosovo Force (KFOR) operational partners – Austria, Armenia, Ireland, Moldova, Ukraine, Finland, Switzerland, and Sweden is also planned.
