KCBW delivers 15 inclusive passenger cars to Ukrzaliznytsia under state order
KYIV. March 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has received 15 passenger cars manufactured by the Kriukov Car Building Works (KCBW) designed to carry passengers with disabilities in a wheelchair, these cars were the last of the state order for 100 cars concluded in 2021, the Ukrzaliznytsia press service reported on Wednesday.
“On February 24, the Verkhovna Rada adopted at the final reading bill No. 8399 on amendments to the law on the state budget for 2023, according to which the budget program for the renewal of rolling stock for passenger transportation was resumed. This will allow settlements with the manufacturer as for already delivered cars and to start new purchases of rolling stock in 2023,” Ukrzaliznytsia noted.
New cars manufactured by KCBW will run as part of trains from Kyiv to Chisinau, Chelm, Przemysl, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Kryvy Rih, Kherson, Odesa, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, and also as part of trains on the routes Odesa-Lviv, Dnipro-Truskavetsk, Kharkiv-Truskavetsk, Kharkiv-Odesa, Kharkiv-Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv-Chelm and Zaporizhia-Przemysl.
Received from the plant in 2022, they were used, among other things, for the transportation of diplomatic delegations of allied countries, Ukrzaliznytsia reports.
Ukrzaliznytsia clarified that it is possible to order a wagon for the transportation of people with disabilities when formalizing tickets through the website https://booking.uz.gov.ua, also when formalizing tickets at the box office or by contacting the Ukrzaliznytsia Contact Center via 0 800 503 111.
“These 15 cars are designed to carry passengers with disabilities in a wheelchair, some of them can also be used as staff cars, as they are equipped with a compartment for the head of the train,” Ukrzaliznytsia said.
Each car has an inclusive restroom and one barrier-free compartment. The entrance is wider than in ordinary cars, for convenient movement on a wheelchair, special sleeping sofas are provided with a change in the angle of inclination and fixation of the body, there is a place for a wheelchair and belts for fastening it, consoles with regular lighting, a trainperson call button, a device speakerphone with a trainperson.
All inclusive carriages have embossed Braille signs, contrast markings for people with visual impairments, and the entrance group is equipped with extended handrails and folding ramps. The angle of inclination of the ramp for a low platform is no more than 15-16%, the report said.
