Health Ministry aims to terminate contract with Serum Institute for COVID-19 vaccine supply – Liashko
KYIV. Aug 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Health Ministry of Ukraine intends to terminate the contract with the Indian vaccine manufacturer Serum Institute for the supply of vaccines against coronavirus (COVID-19), Minister Viktor Liashko has said.
"The issue is that the institute has not fulfilled its obligations under the contract. There is a political decision: I will terminate the contract with the Serum Institute," he told journalists on Saturday.
Liashko said the Serum Institute did not supply 1.5 million doses of the Covishield vaccine and 10 million doses of the Novavax vaccine.
According to him, after the termination of the contract, the funds paid for it will be returned.
According to the minister, Ukraine has re-contracted the required amount of vaccines through the British purchasing agency Crown Agents.
