FSB agent, who transmitted data about energy facilities of Kyiv region to enemy, exposed – PGO

KYIV. Jan 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Law enforcement officers detained a local resident in Kyiv region, who was transmitting information to the FSB of the Russian Federation, about the location of energy infrastructure facilities in Kyiv region, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has reported.

"Under the procedural leadership of Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a Kyiv resident was notified of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the prosecutor’s office said on the Telegram channel on Thursday.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the suspect voluntarily agreed to cooperate with an employee of the FSB of the Russian Federation and, on his instructions, took photos and videos of the locations of energy infrastructure facilities in Kyiv region, personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, fortifications and checkpoints.

"He transmitted the material with the coordinates of energy facilities and the basing of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces using a messenger to an employee of the special services of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the man was aware that this information could be used by the aggressor state for shelling Kyiv region," the prosecutor’s office informs.

The report notes that for intelligence and subversive activities against Ukraine, the suspect received a monetary reward from a representative of the FSB of the Russian Federation.

Law enforcement officers detained the lawbreaker, during the search, prohibited symbols, the state flag of the aggressor state, a mobile phone, a SIM card, as well as a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation were found and seized from him.

Currently, a petition has been sent to the court for the election of a preventive measure for him.
