Energoatom completes its part of work to launch overhead power line with Poland – company
KYIV. March 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom has reported on the completion of its part of the work to launch an overhead power transmission line that will connect the Ukrainian and European power systems through Poland.
“Currently, part of the necessary equipment has already been installed on the site, and the relevant divisions of Energoatom are implementing work prior to startup works,” the company said on its Telegram channel following the visit of its head Petro Kotin to one of the Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
The company said that after NPC Ukrenergo completed its part of the obligations, the line could be put into operation, assuming that Ukrenergo could finish its work in April.
“It is how we expand our capabilities and strengthen Ukraine’s connection with the European power system. It is extremely important in the conditions when Russia is conducting targeted shelling of our energy infrastructure,” Kotin said.
He added that in the future, this transmission line would allow Ukraine to export and import more electricity to the EU countries.
Energoatom recalled that the overhead power line was decommissioned after the collapse of the USSR and has not been in operation since 1991. The line was not named for security reasons.
