Enemy fires at Soledar 134 times over day – AFU Eastern group's spokesman
KYIV. Jan 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – During the day, the enemy shelled Soledar 134 times, in total 38 clashes took place in the Bakhmut direction, Serhiy Cherevaty, spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said.
"Ukrainian units will continue to keep the defense in the city itself and on the outskirts. In the Bakhmut direction, 259 enemy attacks with various calibers of barrel and rocket artillery took place. 38 clashes. Directly Soledar was shelled by the enemy 134 times," he said on the air of the 24 TV channel on Monday.
The speaker noted that the enemy is also trying to carry out offensive operations in the Avdiyivka direction, as well as to counterattack in the Bilohorivka area.
"But in the heavy fighting in the direction of Avdiyivka, the enemy was stopped, serious losses were inflicted on him. We also repelled them in Bilohorivka," Cherevaty said.
According to him, the Russians "lost more in the Bakhmut direction than the USSR lost during the years of the war in Afghanistan."
