Each item of Ukrainian Peace Formula has human dimension – Zelenska in Davos
KYIV. Jan 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelinska has called the most important point of the Ukrainian Peace Formula the point on the release of all prisoners and deportees to the Russian Federation
"About the release of all those thousands of Ukrainians who were taken to Russia and who are told there that, allegedly, no one will help them. They are not the only ones experiencing torture. Their families are also experiencing the torture of uncertainty. This is also about the thousands of children whom we must protect from breaking their ties with their relatives and Ukraine. This gap is provoked by Russia when it gives thousands of Ukrainian children for illegal adoption. This is a crime against the very essence of fatherhood and motherhood," the First Lady said, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
"Every item of the Ukrainian Peace Formula has a human dimension," she said, listing each of the 10 points of the Formula and revealing their essence.
Zelenska also noted the point about restoring justice, stressing that this is what the dignity of every person who died under the rubble of his own house, who survived in the basements of Mariupol and who dreamed of salvation in the Bucha, hiding from Russian executioners, demands.
"Justice is needed so that no one in the world will ever think that alleged war crimes and genocidal policies can go unpunished. This is necessary not only for the living and dead Ukrainians. The world needs this so that no one thinks that violence can be repeated," she said.
Addressing the forum participants, the First Lady also stressed that there are no completely safe places in Ukraine right now, as there are no days off from the war.
"Everyone, who is in Ukraine now, has to risk their lives every day. Russia has no taboos. Right now in Dnipro, the removal of the rubble of a part of a destroyed residential building continues … This morning it was known about 40 dead. While we started this forum, this figure has grown to 43 people. They were just at home on Saturday. This is enough for Russia to kill," Zelenska said.
That is why, she noted, the implementation of the 9th point of the Peace Formula on the guaranteed prevention of escalation is also necessary.
"This is necessary not only in order to have some date for the start of the peacetime countdown. But because peace is not equal to a truce. So that our people, who are now scattered around the world, can return home. So that our parents, their sons and daughters return from the front. To reunite the families who were separated by the war. Unity is what brings peace back," Zelenska summed up.
