Association of Cities welcomes G7 ambassadors' commitment to supporting local self-government in Ukraine
KYIV. Jan 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Association of Ukrainian Cities welcomes the commitment of the Group of G7 Ambassadors to support decentralization and local self-government, and is ready to work on the Urban Planning Code.
"Further commitment to irreversible decentralization and strong local self-governance, including inclusive involvement of municipalities and regions during recovery" is indicated in the Good Governance and Institutions section of the G7 Ambassadors’ Group of Ambassadors’ priorities for support to reforms in Ukraine for 2023. The Association of Ukrainian Cities is grateful to the Group of G7 Ambassadors for their position," the association said.
The association also expressed its readiness to start work on the Urban Planning Code of Ukraine, in accordance with the world standards of urban planning regulation.
Earlier, the G7 Ambassadors noted the importance of maintaining the powers of communities in the course of implementing the urban planning reform provided for by bill No. 5655.
