Growth of retail turnover in Ukraine slows down to 10.1% in July – statistics service

KYIV. Aug 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The turnover of retail trade in Ukraine in July 2021 year-over-year, in comparable prices increased by 10.1%, while in June it grew by 13%, the State Statistics Service said on Friday.
According to the State Statistics Service, in July compared to June 2021, retail trade grew by 6.5%.
In January-July 2021, compared to the same reporting period in 2020, retail trade turnover also increased by 13%, being UAH 780.019 billion.
The largest growth in retail trade turnover of enterprises (legal entities and individual entrepreneurs) for seven months of 2021 was recorded in Chernivtsi (by 28.8%), Ternopil (by 28.2%), Lviv (by 20.8%), Zakarpattia (by 20.7%), Khmelnytsky (19.8%), Poltava (19%), Vinnytsia (18.9%), Ivano-Frankivsk (18.1%), Rivne (15%), Zhytomyr (14.8%), Kyiv (14%), Zaporizhia (13.9%), Dnipropetrovsk (12.7%) and Chernihiv (12%) regions.
According to the statistics authority, the leaders in absolute indicators of the volume of retail trade in January-July 2021 were: Kyiv city (UAH 150.982 billion), Dnipropetrovsk (UAH 73.368 billion), Kyiv (UAH 65.451 billion), Odesa (UAH 56.919 billion), Kharkiv (UAH 54.1 billion), Lviv (UAH 48.292 billion) and Zaporizhia (UAH 34.37 billion) regions.
The State Statistics Service said that the turnover of retail trade enterprises (legal entities) in July 2021 compared to July 2020 grew by 10.7%, and compared to June of this year – by 6.3%, amounting to UAH 89.669 billion.
At the same time, in January-July of this year, the retail trade turnover of enterprises rose by 13% (relative to January-July last year), to UAH 565.923 billion.
The wholesale turnover of enterprises (legal entities) in January-July 2021 compared to the same period in 2020 fell by 8% and amounted to UAH 1.729 trillion.
As reported, the retail trade turnover of Ukraine in 2020 grew by 8.4% and amounted to UAH 1.211 trillion.
The State Statistics Service said the data are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
