Baku seaport boosts cargo transshipment 15% in 2022
BAKU. March 30 (Interfax) – Baku International Sea Trade Port boosted the volume of cargo transshipment 14.6% year-on-year to 6.4 million tonnes in 2022, the port told Interfax.
Transit cargo accounted for 88.6% of the total transshipment volume.
Transshipment through the port of large vehicles (TIR), including trailers and other vehicles, increased 30.3% to 51,400 units, including 21,900 units of TIR transshipped in the direction of Baku-Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan)-Baku, and 29,500 units transshipped in the direction of Baku-Kuryk (Kazakhstan)-Baku.
Transshipment of wagons at the ferry terminal increased 27.2% to 38,700 units, of which 21,500 wagons went in the Baku-Turkmenbashi-Baku direction and 17,200 wagons went in the Baku-Kuryk/Aktau-Baku direction.
The volume of container transshipment increased 16.1% to 52,300 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU).
The port said that transshipment of dry cargo exceeded one million tonnes last year [against 1.183 million tonnes in 2021].
Transshipment of oil and petroleum products at the Dubendi terminal, which is part of Baku International Sea Trade Port, decreased 11% to 978,700 tonnes.
