Energy Ministry signs memo with German Eastern Business Association on development of green energy
KYIV. March 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the German Eastern Business Association signed a memorandum on assistance to projects for green recovery of the Ukrainian energy sector, the Ministry of Energy reported on Wednesday evening.
“Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Haluschenko held a meeting in Berlin with representatives of German companies that are members of the German Eastern Business Association. During the meeting, the parties signed a memorandum on framework cooperation,” the ministry noted.
In particular, the parties agreed to strengthen the Ukrainian-German energy partnership, and also confirmed their desire to ensure the stable operation of the Ukrainian energy sector and the development of a sustainable energy system of the future.
According to the ministry, the memorandum provides for the exchange of experience between the parties in accelerating the transition to green energy, the implementation of regular common formats of cooperation on the integration of the energy market of Ukraine with the European one, as well as support for green recovery in the framework of the joint implementation of pilot energy reconstruction projects in Ukraine through investments from the German business.
“Renewable energy is more than just a climate issue. It is an important part of the future Ukrainian energy system, which will be resistant to military challenges and will be built on the principles of sustainable development. Investment in this area is a contribution to the energy security of all of Europe,” the website of the Ministry of Energy quoted Haluschenko.
