G7 finance ministers intend to closely monitor how effective anti-Russian sanctions are

WASHINGTON. Feb 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – G7 finance ministers on Thursday promised to closely monitor whether the sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation are effective and expressed their readiness to introduce additional restrictive measures if necessary.

“We will continue to closely monitor the effectiveness of sanctions and take further actions as needed. We will also continue to work closely together and with our partners to enforce our sanctions and prevent any attempts to evade or circumvent sanctions,” ministers said in a statement following their meeting in India.

It argues that the current restrictive measures create obstacles in the work of the Russian military-industrial complex.

G7 finance ministers also urged the IMF and Kyiv to work out a program of assistance to Ukraine.

“We urge the IMF and Ukraine to deliver a credible, ambitious… IMF program by the end of March 2023,” the document notes.
