Kremlin preparing Russian population for protracted conflict – AFU General Staff
KYIV. Feb 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Kremlin is preparing the country’s population for a long conflict in Ukraine, at the same time, concern is growing in Russian society about the future of the country, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Oleksiy Hromov has said.
“The Kremlin is preparing the population for a protracted conflict. Against the background of the frank uncertainty in the statements of the leadership of the Russian Federation, the growing economic crisis and the expectation of the next wave of mobilization, concern about the future of the Russian Federation is growing in society and opinions are spreading about the unjustifiability of the goals of the ‘special military operation’ (SMO) regarding the price that will have to be paid for it,” he said at a briefing at the Military Media Center on Thursday.
The General Staff also noted that although the Kremlin leadership claims that the goals of the so-called “SMO” have not changed, they do not give an answer how these goals will be achieved.
