In Carpathian region, changes to be developed in master plans of villages for construction of two new resorts

KYIV. Feb 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The construction of two new ski resorts is planned in Zakarpattia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, a number of village and settlement councils will develop changes to the master plans of the territories, the Free Svydovets initiative group reported, citing the relevant decisions of local governments.

According to the published decisions, changes to the master plans of villages Bystrytsia and Polianytsia (Ivano-Frankivsk region), as well as of village Lopukhiv (Zakarpattia region) for the construction of new recreational complexes on the territory and outside the boundaries of settlements will be made in accordance with the current legislation on based on an appeal of Bukovel LLC.

According to the initiative group, two new resorts Bystrytsia and Turbat are planned to be built next to the previously announced resort Svydovets. According to it, the total area of the new resorts is 1,400 hectares, equipped with 28 lifts for 200 km of ski slopes. The total capacity of the two new resorts is 25,000 visitors.

“All three planned resorts are located nearby and will be connected to the current Bukovel. As a result, a monster resort is planned, designed for more than 65,000 people at the same time. All these village councils gave the green light to the design of resorts. Today, the preparation of documents necessary for the construction continues. Already this year, there is a chance to see the start of construction work and the beginning of the disaster,” the group’s Facebook post says.

In their opinion, the development of these territories will lead to the destruction of the Carpathian forests, fields, rivers, lakes, the protected habitat of numerous Red Book flora and fauna. In addition, the construction of resorts may aggravate the situation with drinking water in the region, Free Svydovets points out.

The group notes that companies from the orbit of former owner of PrivatBank Ihor Kolomoisky are interested in the construction of resorts.
