Investigation hasn't established yet whether MP Trukhin was driving car during accident – acting SBI director

KYIV. Sept 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The investigation in the case of an accident with the participation of MP Oleksandr Trukhin (Servant of the People faction) has not yet received information that would help establish who was driving the car at the time of the accident, Director of the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) Oleksiy Sukhachov said.

In an exclusive interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency, he said that after receiving materials from the National Police, the SBI appointed several important examinations in the case. "We are looking forward to these results, and after that we will make a decision regarding the procedural status of each person who was in the vehicle."

At the same time, acting director of the SBI noted: "All the participants in that event have already been identified."

Answering the question whether it was established who was directly at the wheel of the car, Sukhachov said: "No, we did not establish who was driving, because we did not receive materials from CCTV cameras."

Acting director of the SBI explained that an analysis of all the recordings of video cameras that were installed on the road from Poltava to Kyiv was carried out, but repairs were carried out on the section of the Boryspil-Kyiv highway, and the cameras were dismantled.

"But there is information that there is such a video, and we have called on all citizens of Ukraine to provide us with additional information, to help the investigation with the available communication channels. Unfortunately, we have not received anything yet," Sukhachov emphasized.

He assured that the SBI is taking all measures to fully and objectively investigate the case.

As reported, an accident involving Trukhin occurred on the Boryspil highway on August 23. The Audi car drove at high speed into the Ford car, which, in turn, rammed at the Daewoo. Six people were injured, including two children.

A number of media outlets then reported that Trukhin was driving Audi, but this information was subsequently deleted.

On August 31, the National Police announced that the case would be investigated by the State Bureau of Investigations.
