State budget expenditures on combating pandemic for Jan-Aug amount to UAH 30 bln with UAH 36 bln foreseen for year

KYIV. Sept 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – State budget expenditures on combating COVID-19 in January-August amounted to UAH 30 billion, while in total in 2021 some UAH 36 billion is allocated to fight the pandemic, the press service of the Ministry of Finance said.

According to the report, UAH 11.8 billion was spent on payment for emergency and inpatient medical care provided to patients with COVID-19 and services for vaccination of the population against COVID-19, while UAH 9.8 billion was spent on the purchase of vaccines from COVID-19.

It is indicated that UAH 17.5 billion was allocated for the treatment of COVID-19 patients and vaccination services under the medical guarantees program in 2021, and UAH 10.5 billion for the purchase of 38 million doses of vaccines.

The Ministry of Finance noted that UAH 2.5 billion was spent on the purchase of goods and services to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (excluding vaccines), including UAH 1.7 billion from local budgets.

The budget covered payments to institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine for hospitalization services for patients with COVID-19 in the amount of UAH 14 million out of the stipulated UAH 55 million.

According to the ministry, UAH 500 million out of UAH 750 million was allocated to provide hospitals with oxygen, and UAH 18.3 million out of the planned UAH 1 billion was allocated for the implementation of measures to combat COVID-19 in educational institutions.

The press service noted that UAH 2.9 billion was allocated for social support of the population under quarantine, UAH 800 million was allocated for the payment of sick leave, while UAH 3.8 billion was allocated to the Ministry of Social Policy for these purposes.
