Court postpones hearing of PrivatBank's claim against decision to liquidate Novopharm with UAH 4.3 bln of debt to Feb 7
KYIV. Jan 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Central Economic Court of Appeal in Dnipro postponed the consideration of a claim of the state-owned PrivatBank against the decision of the trial court on the liquidation of the Novopharm legal entity, despite its UAH 4.3 billion debt to the bank, the financial institution’s press service reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, the consideration of the case was postponed until February 7 in connection with a petition filed by the debtor’s representative and the liquidator.
As reported, in December 2015, the NBU recognized Novopharm as an entity associated with PrivatBank (prior to the nationalization of the financial institution in December 2016, businessmen Ihor Kolomoisky and Hennadiy Boholiubov were its shareholders). Despite this, the bank issued a loan of UAH 3.2 billion to this company for debt restructuring.
Later, on December 18, 2016, the government of Ukraine, referring to the proposal of the National Bank and the former shareholders of PrivatBank, decided to nationalize this largest financial institution in the Ukrainian market and poured over UAH 155 billion into its capital.
