"Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Prosecutor General’s Office, an indictment was sent to the court against one of the participants of the Wagner PMC on the fact of participation in a criminal organization (Part 2 of Article 255 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the PGO said on the Telegram channel on Tuesday.
According to the PGO, the accused, while serving his sentence in correctional facility No. 4 in the village of Ostrovskoye of Kostroma region of the Russian Federation for car theft, voluntarily accepted the offer of the organizer of the Wagner PMC to join its ranks.
"For participating in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine and committing crimes, the organizer offered prisoners a monetary reward of 100,000 Russian rubles per month and an additional 100,000 Russian rubles after the expiration of a 6-month contract. In addition, all prisoners who will join the Wagner PMC were promised a full pardon and a so-called ‘clean letter’ after the expiration of the contract," the prosecutor’s office said.
The accused, along with other participants, was sent to the area of military operations in Luhansk region, where a local hospital, looted by the PMC, which they used as a military facility, underwent a training course with combat weapons, tactics of warfare and received equipment and weapons.
"In December 2022, he was captured by representatives of the security and defense forces of Ukraine in the area of military operations on the territory of Donetsk region," the PGO added.
