President of European Commission: for restoration of Ukraine, any help is needed, investments not only from state, but also from private sector

KYIV. Jan 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen called on those present at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos to provide Ukraine with any assistance to restore the country.

Speaking at the forum on Tuesday, the President of the European Commission noted the "moral and physical courage" of the Ukrainian people in the face of the ongoing Russian invasion of the country.

Addressing First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska present in the hall, von der Leyen said: "In this last year, your country has moved the world and has inspired Europe. And I can assure you that Europe will always stand with you."

At the same time, she said that many doubted that European support would be so unwavering, but today Ukraine is a candidate country to access the EU, and European countries are providing more and more critical weapons to Ukraine.

Von der Leyen also said that knowledge as well as money is needed to move forward with the relief and reconstruction process.

She said that they need all the help on board. Ukraine deserves to have as much support as possible. And the EU need not only public sector investment, but private investment and knowledge, von der Leyen said.
