British Defense Minister confirms decision to transfer company of Challenger 2 tanks, dozens of AS-90 self-propelled guns to Kyiv
KYIV. Jan 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The UK will give Ukraine its most substantial military aid package, which will include Challenger 2 tanks and AS-90 self-propelled artillery units.
The British media cite excerpts from the minister’s speech in the House of Commons telling of the announcement of the largest at the moment package of military assistance which includes a company of Challenger 2 tanks, armored repair and evacuation vehicles. The AS-90 installations are also about to be delivered.
Earlier, the British Prime Minister’s office announced that London intends to deliver the promised Challenger 2 tanks to Kyiv in the coming weeks as part of the acceleration of military assistance planned by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
In addition, they noted in the Downing Street that about 30 AS-90 self-propelled guns are expected to follow the tanks.
