Army of Drones project provides AFU with 1,600 drones worth UAH 3.3 bln
KYIV. Jan 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Army of Drones project, within the framework of the UNITED24 platform, provided contracting of 1,600 drones worth UAH 3.3 billion at the request of the military, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said at the conference "UAV Production: Opportunities and Challenges" in Kyiv on January 14.
"Thanks to the Army of Drones project, within the framework of the UNITED24 platform, we provide our military with the best "birds" and stimulate the development of Ukrainian UAV manufacturers. During the seven months of the project, at the request of the military, almost 1,600 drones worth UAH 3.3 billion have already been contracted. Some of them are drones of Ukrainian manufacturers," Fedorov said at the conference organized by the KSE.
The minister also said that 83 Mavic, Matrice, Autel drones were sent to Bakhmut.
In turn, First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko pointed out that the state intends to stimulate the development of UAVs in Ukraine on a systematic basis, create the necessary conditions for this, in particular, deregulation.
"We are focused on stimulating the development of production systematically, looking to the future. Stimulate the development of small producers, expand the production of large ones, open access to finance both within the country and from outside," she said.
The Army of Drones project was created with the participation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Digital Transformation on July 1, 2022. As part of the project, it is planned to purchase and repair drones at the expense of donations, as well as conduct training courses on handling them.
