Majority of Ukrainians confident that war against Russia to end with Ukraine's victory within year or sooner – poll
KYIV. Jan 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The vast majority of Ukrainians are completely confident in the victory of Ukraine in the war against Russia, according to the results of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
According to the survey, 75.3% of respondents are completely confident in the victory of Ukraine and 20.4% are rather confident.
"At the same time, the vast majority of respondents (63.2%) expect it [victory] within the current year or even sooner. Only 26% answered that the war will last more than a year," the KIIS said in the report on the results of the survey, published on Monday.
The KIIS analysts say there are significant hopes in society for the soon end of the military confrontation with Russia, the final of which will be the victory of Ukraine.
In addition, almost all respondents give high (63.8%) or medium (32.1%) estimates of the international support provided to Ukraine to defeat Russia.
The Ukrainian Society sociological monitoring was conducted by the KIIS upon request of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2022. The research tools were developed by the Institute of Sociology. The results of the survey represent the adult population of Ukraine, with the exception of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas (after weighting – in accordance with the demographic structure that existed before the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine).
The survey was conducted through computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) and exclusively by mobile phone numbers.
The statistical error of the sample in the amount of 2,007 respondents with a confidence level of 95% is 2.2%. Assuming that the design effect of such a sample under normal conditions is 1.1, the maximum sampling error should be no more than 2.5%. At the same time, there may be additional biases associated with the military invasion that cannot be fully assessed.
The field phase of the study lasted from December 19 to 25, 2022.
