USDA raises estimate of corn exports from Ukraine by 2.5 mln tonnes, wheat by 500,000 tonnes in Dec
KYIV. Jan 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in the January report increased the forecast for corn exports from Ukraine in 2022/2023 marketing year (MY, July-June) by 2.5 million tonnes compared to December data – up to 20 million tonnes from 17.5 million tonnes, and wheat – by 500,000 tonnes, up to 13 million tonnes from 12.5 million tonnes.
As indicated in the report on the website of the US Department of Agriculture, the forecast for corn production in the current marketing year was kept at 27 million tonnes, and for wheat it was increased by 500,000 tonnes – up to 21 million tonnes from 20.5 million tonnes.
At the same time, the estimate of domestic corn consumption in Ukraine in 2022/2023 MY was reduced by 1.5 million tonnes, to 5 million tonnes from 6.5 million tonnes, and increased for wheat by 500,000 tonnes, to 4.5 million tonnes from 4 million tonnes.
In general, the forecast for the export of feed grain in Ukraine for 2022/2023 MY in January increased by 3 million tonnes – up to 22.93 million tonnes from 19.93 million tonnes in December, and its production was reduced by 300,000 tonnes – up to 34.16 million tonnes from 34.46 million tonnes.
As reported, Ukrainian farmers by January 6 harvested 75.03 million tonnes of main crops from a total area of 17.96 million hectares, last week they harvested 700,000 tonnes of corn from 100,000 hectares.
