Ukrainian PM, Speaker of Latvian Sejm discuss financial, humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, extension of sanctions against Russia
KYIV. Jan 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Speaker of the Latvian Sejm Edvards Smiltens have discussed financial and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, as well as the extension of the sanctions policy against Russia.
"I held a meeting with the newly elected Speaker of the Latvian Sejm Edvards Smiltens and Latvian parliamentarians. Latvian’s support for Ukraine remains unwavering," the prime minister said on the Telegram channel.
The parties discussed financial and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, as well as the extension of the sanctions policy against Russia.
"I noted the necessity to impose restrictions in the field of Russian nuclear energy. We raised important issues of air defense supplies and bringing top Russian leadership to justice," Shmyhal said.
