Marketplace Prom.ua reaches pre-war volume of orders, plans to grow by 25-30% in 2023 – EVO CEO

KYIV. Jan 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prom.ua Marketplace, one of the leading in Ukraine, increased its turnover by 55% in December 2022 and returned to the level of orders in December 2021, EVO CEO Mykola Paliyenko said in an interview with Forbes.ua.

"Orders on the marketplace in December were at the level of last year, and the turnover increased by 55%. Profit is ahead of the number of orders, inflation has not been canceled. Plus, in the autumn, people began to buy a lot of expensive seasonal goods. This year, these are heaters and everything to equip invincibility points at home. Therefore, the turnover has grown more than the number of orders," Paliyenko said.

The CEO of EVO noted that for 2023 the company had an ambitious business growth plan of 25-30%.

"But how this happens depends not only on us, but also on the Armed Forces of Ukraine, energy industry workers, infrastructure, and support from Western partners. Let’s hope that the situation in the economy will be more or less stable, they will help us, we will recover, fight successfully and the war will end this year," Paliyenko described the situation.

Demand for generators rose by 3,000% since the strikes on energy infrastructure began last October, he said, pushing up prices. However, with the market saturation, prices have stabilized and for the category "energy products" they are 15% higher than in Poland. Paliyenko added that the "military trade" category, which was formed during the war, was growing dynamically.

Speaking about individual business segments, he said that Zakupki.prom, a public procurement platform through ProZorro, had dipped significantly.

"During martial law, public procurement accelerated, you can buy outside of ProZorro. Gradually, we returned part of the purchases, but the volume of goods in the system decreased by 50% compared to normal," Paliyenko stated.

The EVO CEO added that the company closed several more businesses, and froze some.

At the same time, he estimates that the share of e-commerce in retail increased to 11-12% last year from 9% in 2021.

The material indicates that in the month after the Russian invasion, EVO laid off 430 people, or 30% of the team, and has so far been able to return 20% of those fired.

As reported, in May 2016, the Prom.ua electronic platform was reorganized into the EVO group of companies, the main business of which is marketplaces. The group implements B2C, B2B, B2G and C2C projects on the Internet.
