Former head of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Agency Burba: Meeting of Investigative Commission on Wagner members case fails to take place on Tues

KYIV. Sept 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense Vasyl Burba has said that the meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada on the investigation of possible illegal actions of representatives of state authorities and other persons against the sovereignty of Ukraine on Tuesday, September 14, did not take place due to the lack of a quorum.

"I arrived at the meeting at the invitation of Bezuhla [with head of the Investigation Commission Maryana Bezuhla], at the same time I received information that there will be no meeting today due to the lack of a quorum. Moreover, I received an additional invitation for Monday … The meeting did not take place today, I talked with her [Bezuhla] … Today, at 17:00, I arrived from abroad, and at 18:30, I arrived [at the meeting of the Commission,]" Burba said in a comment to reporters.

When asked what was the purpose of his trip abroad, Burba said that he took his child for treatment there.

At the same time, he did not answer clarifying questions regarding the Wagner members case directly, explaining that only the Commission could provide all the answers.

"On Monday I am answering all the questions [of the Commission members], after that, perhaps, I will talk with you [journalists]," Burba said.

At the same time, when asked whether it is worth listening to the President of Ukraine and the head of the President’s Office at the Commission meeting, he said that "if there are disagreements, then, of course, it is worth it."

As reported, Burba arrived at a meeting of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to provide information on the organization of a special event to detain 33 fighters of the Wagner PMC.

The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for Monday, September 20.
