USA to announce next aid package to Ukraine soon – Biden's advisor
KYIV. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The United States continues to help Ukraine and will announce another package of military assistance in the coming weeks, U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters on Sunday, November 13.
"We are remaining steady in our supply of security assistance. You saw the package we just announced. There’ll be another one in the next couple of weeks on roughly the same timetable and at roughly the same magnitude as we have been doing over the course of the past few weeks and months," Sullivan told reporters aboard a flight from Vietnam to the G20 summit in Bali.
"We’re also consulting with Congress about acquiring additional resources as we look ahead to next year," Biden’s advisor said.
Sullivan accompanies President Joe Biden on visits to Cambodia and Indonesia, where he attended the U.S.-ASEAN and East Asia summits, and where he will attend the G20 summit in Bali.
Earlier this week, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he had authorized a $400 million new arms shipment to Ukraine on behalf of the president.
The Pentagon said missiles for the Hawk anti-aircraft system, four Avenger anti-aircraft missile systems equipped with Stinger missiles, additional ammunition for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, 21,000 155-mm artillery shells, 500 high-precision 155-mm artillery shells, equipment for cold weather and other military equipment.
According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Defense, the new U.S. aid package to Ukraine was the 25th since August 2021. In total, since the beginning of the administration of President Joe Biden, the United States has provided military assistance to Kyiv in the amount of more than $19.3 billion.
