Kuleba to inform European Council on Foreign Relations about situation with rebuffing Russian aggression
BRUSSELS. Nov 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba will inform the foreign ministers of the European Union member states about the development of a situation on the ground in the light of the repulse of Russian aggression.
A senior European diplomat told reporters in Brussels on Friday on condition of anonymity ahead of a meeting of the European Council on Foreign Relations in Brussels on Monday that three issues are on the agenda: the Russian war against Ukraine, the African Great Lakes region and the Western Balkans.
"There will be a connection with Minister Kuleba, who will inform about the situation on the ground. Over the past two-three days we have seen news that the Russians are withdrawing from Kherson to the left bank of the Dnipro River. Ukrainians are cautious in their assessment. Putin is losing all the capitals he has taken, he has again been defeated on the battlefield. And this is a trend that started a few months ago. The ministers will discuss three main EU lines of action: how we support Ukraine, how we undermine [the ability to wage war] Russia, and how we deal with the global consequences of the conflict," he said.
In addition, the Council is expected to make a formal decision on a military support mission for Ukraine to be funded from the Peace Facility.
Speaking about new sanctions for the Russian Federation, the European diplomat said that work in this area continues. "No decision will be made on Monday, but we are already working on new sanctions for Russia, which will be decided very soon, before the end of the year," he said.
