USA to continue supporting Ukraine, will try to achieve diplomatic solution on fair terms – Secretary of State
KYIV. Sept 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The USA will continue to support Ukraine while it defends itself from the Russian Federation, the USA will also try to achieve a diplomatic solution on fair terms, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said.
"If Russia stops fighting, the war ends. If Ukraine stops fighting, Ukraine ends. That’s why we will continue to support Ukraine as it defends itself, and strengthen its hand to achieve a diplomatic solution on just terms at a negotiating table. As President Zelensky has said repeatedly, diplomacy is the only way to end this war. But diplomacy cannot and must not be used as a cudgel to impose on Ukraine a settlement that cuts against the UN Charter, or rewards Russia for violating it," Blinken said at a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York on Thursday.
He pointed out that President Putin is making his choice, and now all countries must make their choice.
“Tell President Putin to stop the horror that he started. Tell him to stop putting his interests above the interests of the rest of the world, including his own people. Tell him to stop debasing this council and everything it stands for,” Blinken said.
