Kuleba discusses economic and financial assistance to Ukraine with Danish premier
KYIV. Jan 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba during his visit to Copenhagen met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, during which he thanked the head of the Danish government for Denmark’s active position in countering Russia’s aggressive intentions, in particular, attempts to destabilize the situation in Ukraine.
“The minister expressed his gratitude for maintaining the usual mode of operation of the Danish embassy in Kyiv, confirming the position on the premature evacuation of family members and employees of diplomatic institutions from Ukraine,” the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
It clarifies that during the meeting, the parties agreed that preventing a further escalation of Russian aggression against Ukraine and Europe depends on consolidated international pressure on Russia, combined with the maximum increase in Ukraine’s defense capability.
“In this context, Dmytro Kuleba highly appreciated the decision of the Danish government to provide EUR 22 million to strengthen the security sector of Ukraine as part of the Peace and Stabilization Program for 2022-2025,” the Foreign Ministry stressed.
It notes that the parties also agreed on the further participation of Denmark in supporting the reform process in Ukraine, in particular, within the framework of technical assistance at the next stage of the Danish Neighborhood Program (DANEP) for 2022-2026.
“It is expected that Denmark will allocate EUR 73 million within the framework of the program for the implementation of projects in Ukraine,” the ministry said.
