Wage arrears in Ukraine 10.3% up in July – statistics

KYIV. Aug 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The total wage arrears in Ukraine in July of this year increased by 10.3%, since the beginning of the year – by 51.7% and by August 1 amounted to UAH 3.961 billion, the State Statistics Service has said.

According to its data, the amount of wage arrears at enterprises that stopped filing reports during 2019-2020 amounted to UAH 158.3 million on the same date.

According to the statistics department, a reduction in wage arrears in July 2021 was recorded in Zakarpattia (by 26.5%), Zaporizhia (by 11.8%), Kharkiv (by 6.3%), Odesa (by 5.1%), Kirovohrad (by 5.0%), Kyiv (by 2.7%), Poltava (2.1%), Cherkasy (1.3%) and Sumy (0.1%) regions.

At the same time, an increase in wage arrears was observed in Luhansk (by 47.1%), Chernivtsi (by 44.7%), Lviv (by 24.6%), Ternopil (by 19.7%), Rivne (by 6.6%), Khmelnytsky (by 18.9%) %), Chernihiv (15.3%) regions and Kyiv city (46.2%).

The State Statistics Service said that among sectors in July 2021, wage arrears in financial and insurance activities tripled (to UAH 20,000), in healthcare they grew by 28.9% (up to UAH 108.453 million), in the field of temporary accommodation and catering – by 24.5% (to UAH 2.048 million), in the provision of other types of services – by 22.8% (to UAH 4.24 million), in industry – by 11.7% (to UAH 3.003 billion), in public administration, defense and compulsory social insurance – by 9.0% (to UAH 6.545 million), in professional, scientific and technical activities – by 7.9% (to UAH 329.822 million), at transport enterprises, warehousing and courier activities – by 5.7% (to UAH 218.192 million), in education – by 2.7% (to UAH 23.258 million), and at wholesale and retail trade enterprises – by 1.2% (to UAH 36.684 million).

At the same time, in in agriculture, wage arrears fell by 11.1% (to UAH 69.161 million), in the field of arts, sports, entertainment and recreation – by 9% (to UAH 1.771 million), in construction – by 1.4% (to UAH 84.824 million), in real estate transactions – by 1.3% (to UAH 38.515 million), administrative and auxiliary services – by 1.1% (to UAH 17.124 million), and IT and telecommunications – by 0.1% (to UAH 15.63 million).
