Interior Ministry to conduct set of security measures during Rosh Hashanah celebration in Uman – Monastyrsky

KYIV. Aug 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denys Monastyrsky and Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ukraine Myhailo Brodsky discussed the organization of the pilgrimage of Bratslav Hasidim to the city of Uman, Cherkasy region during the celebration of Rosh Hashanah on September 6 to September 8.

According to the ministry’s press service, Monastyrsky congratulated Brodsky on the beginning of his term in Ukraine and expressed hope for further interaction to strengthen and develop bilateral relations, in particular, in cooperation with the Interior Ministry.

"The sides discussed the organization of the pilgrimage of Bratslav Hasidim to the city of Uman, Cherkasy region, during the celebration of the Jewish new year Rosh Hashanah on September 6 to September 8. Denys Monastyrsky said that a set of security measures will be carried out during border control," the ministry said in the statement.

In turn, Brodsky said that about 50,000 Israelis and citizens of other foreign countries are expected to arrive in Ukraine in 2021.

It is noted that Israeli citizens will need to be tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) at the airport of departure and after their return, as well as to strictly comply with the sanitary rules established by Ukrainian law.

The Minister of Internal Affairs also said that a police situation center has been deployed in the city and an effective exchange of operational information has been established between the Ukrainian and Israeli sides.

In addition, the sides identified joint steps to ensure the implementation of the agreement on visa-free travel of citizens in force between Ukraine and Israel.
