Russian trade in agricultural products with Vietnam grows 8% in Jan-July

MOSCOW. Aug 27 (Interfax) – Bilateral trade in agricultural products between Russia and Vietnam grew by 8% to $558 million in the first seven months of 2021, the Russian Agriculture Ministry reported.

Deputy Agriculture Minister Sergei Levin discussed trade in agricultural products, cooperation on veterinary and phytosanitary oversight and the implementation of joint investment projects were discussed at a meeting with Vietnam’s ambassador to Russia, Dang Minh Khoi, the ministry said.

Agricultural products have accounted for about 15% of trade between the two countries in recent years, and development of cooperation continues to accelerate, the ministry said.

The deputy minister and ambassador discussed the opening of the Vietnamese market to new types of Russian animal products and mutual expansion of the list of exporting companies. They also discussed the possibility of organizing direct supplies of Russian wheat to Vietnamese mills, as well as the implementation of projects in Moscow and Kaluga regions and Primorye by Vietnam’s TH True Milk Group.
