Zelenskyy on anniversary of Mariupol drama theater bombing: We're moving towards ensuring responsibility of terrorist state for what is committed against our country

KYIV. March 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine will not forgive the Russian occupiers for a single ruined fate and will not forget anyone whose life was taken by Russian terror, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on the anniversary of the Russian attack on the building of the drama theater in Mariupol.

“A year ago, Russia deliberately and brutally dropped a powerful bomb on the Drama Theater in Mariupol downtown. Next to the building was the inscription ‘Children,’ which was impossible to overlook. Hundreds of people were hiding from the shelling there,” Zelenskyy said in his Telegram channel.

He also uncovered part of the investigation into the bombing of the drama theater.

“Step by step, we are moving towards ensuring that the terrorist state is fully held to account for what it has done to our country and our people. We will not forgive a single life ruined by the occupiers. We remember all those whose lives were taken by Russian terror,” the president said.

As reported, on March 16, 2022, Russian aircraft dropped a powerful bomb on the premises of the Drama Theater in Mariupol. The theater building was a place of refuge for hundreds of Mariupol residents who lost their homes as a result of the bombardment and shelling of the city by the Russian army. As a result of the bomb attack, the central part of the theater building was destroyed, many people were under the rubble.

Later, Mariupol city council said about 300 people killed as a result of the bombing in the Drama Theater of the city, according to eyewitnesses.
