Zelensky's visit to U.S. allows fixing practical plans of cooperation in number of areas – Hryschenko
KYIV. Sept 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to the U.S. was generally successful and allowed to fix practical plans of cooperation in a number of areas, former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine (2012-2014), Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2010-2012, 2003 -2005) Kostiantyn Hryschenko said.
"I think that in general, the visit was successful, it allowed to record practical plans of cooperation in a number of areas," Hryschenko told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.
According to him, an important document is the one that defines the areas of military and military-technical cooperation, as well as agreements with leading U.S. defense companies through Ukroboronprom.
"The fact that the meeting itself took place within two hours, after the main documents had been agreed and approved, probably made it possible to focus on those conceptual things that are important for continued cooperation with the support of the top U.S. political leadership," he said.
As reported, during the working visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington, Ukraine and the U.S. signed an agreement on the strategic foundations of defense partnership, which confirms key principles and defines the goals of bilateral relations between Ukraine and the U.S. in defense. In addition, during his visit to the U.S., Director General of the state concern Ukroboronprom Yuriy Husev held a series of working meetings with leading U.S. defense companies, reached cooperation agreements, and signed three agreements worth $2.5 billion.
