Zelensky would be supported by 33%, Poroshenko by 17% of Ukrainians in presidential election – poll
KYIV. Sept 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Incumbent Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would garner more votes than any other possible candidate in a presidential election if one were held in mid-September, as seen from the findings of a nationwide public opinion poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
The poll shows that 33.3% of respondents who are determined to vote and who have firmly decided for whom to vote would cast their ballots for Zelensky. Another 16.8% of such respondents would vote for former President Petro Poroshenko, who currently leads the European Solidarity party, 10.3% for Batkivschyna party leader Yulia Tymoshenko, 9.5% for Opposition Platform – For Life party leader Yuriy Boiko, and 8.7% for the Strenth and Honor party leader Ihor Smeshko.
Former parliamentarian Yevheniy Murayev would get 6.4%, former Prime Minister and current leader of the Ukrainian Strateghy party Volodymyr Groysman would get 5.7%, and Radical Party leader Oleh Liashko would get 4.6% of the vote.
As many as 4.7% of the respondents would vote for other candidates, 10.3% are undecided, 11.2% said they would not go to the polls, 2% would vote against all candidates or intentionally make their ballot invalid, and 0.3% refused to answer.
KIIS polled 2,002 respondents aged 18 and older using the computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) method on September 10-15.
