Zelensky: Weapons supplied from US to Ukraine not for sale
KYIV. Sept 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that weapons purchased or supplied from the United States to Ukraine are necessary to strengthen the defense capability of the Ukrainian army, and not for sale to third countries.
"When I come to the United States and thank the administration of President Biden for support… and when we talk about the purchase, supply of weapons from the United States [to Ukraine], or about the purchase of navy vessels from Europe to strengthen our state, our defense [institutions], army, etc … because we have a war going on in the east of the country now, this is my priority. We are not ready to re-sell anything just like that, and this cannot happen during my tenure. All these weapons are used precisely for the power of the Ukrainian army," said Zelensky, answering students’ questions at Stanford University (US, California).
"We are a peaceful state and now we are only talking about protecting our borders, our sovereignty and territorial integrity. And, if something remained from the past, these or those contracts – well, .. this is life. I don’t know what came before me and what contracts were concluded prior to my presidency," he added.
