Zelensky to speak at UN Security Council meeting on Aug 24
KYIV. Aug 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A meeting of the UN Security Council dedicated to Ukraine has started in New York.
The representative of Russia to the UN opposed granting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky the right to speak via video link, citing the fact that participation via video link is not provided. "We question not the participation of the President of Ukraine, but his speech via video link," he said.
However, the UN Security Council, with 13 votes in favor, decided to invite the President of Ukraine. The representative Russia voted against, the representative of China abstained.
